Project Overview

Clock in to your caregiving shift at Knotty Pines Senior Living and earn Pine Points as you progress through this innovative bloodborne pathogens prevention scenario. Learners choose a Knotty Pines caregiver persona and walk a day-in-the-life helping patients, all the while making key decisions about bloodborne pathogen safety. Audio clips with loudspeaker announcements serve as storytelling devices throughout the course that drive urgent action to residents’ rooms, where the learner encounters real-life scenarios involving pathogen risks.

• Hidden hotspots are used to identify areas commonly missed when washing hands.

• Knowledge checks are integrated into scenarios throughout the course, prompting the learner to make choices about PPE and handling contaminated items.

• Hidden hotspots bring to light potentially contaminated items in common areas.

• A branching scenario walks an exposed employee through how to take action to protect their health and document the incident.

• A custom point tracking system (Pine Points) that awards learners a Pine Point upon successful completion of an interaction.
